South College offers four different degrees in the criminal justice field; each degree provides students with knowledge and training to be successful in the criminal justice field. Students who graduate with a criminal justice degree will be ready to assume positions such as a police officer, crime analyst, FBI agent or something similar. At South College, we offer associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice.
Associate of Science in Criminal Justice
The mission of this program is to present a professional, academic criminal justice curriculum that develops knowledge and social awareness necessary for an entry-level position, or advancement in a current position. Through the program, students will be given the tools to understand the methods and techniques used in the criminal justice field. The Associate of Science degree also addresses issues, topics and trends in three basic components including law enforcement, courts and corrections. Students also have the opportunity to get an inside view of the operations and processes of these components through interaction with criminal justice practitioners, field trips and the completion of an internship that will provide students with appropriate theory to be successful. Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice
With this degree, you will be on your way to become a police office, crime analyst or something similar. This program will provide students with educational and training experiences. These experiences include policing, private security, private investigations, parole, probation and crime analysis. Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice
The mission of this program is to provide educational and training experiences to students interested in careers in the criminal justice field. The program provides educational and training experiences in the criminal justice field, including policing, private security, private investigation, parole probation and crime analysis. Upon completion, students will be well prepared to be successful and contribute to the criminal justice field. This program will also give students the appropriate background to apply for governmental criminal justice roles. Master of Criminal Justice (Online Program)
This master’s program is designed for working professionals or practitioners who want to improve their current level of proficiency or develop enhanced capabilities to become more marketable in today’s criminal justice workforce. The program is designed to be fast-paced, focused and an affordable option for criminal justice practitioners who may not be ready to commit to a full-length graduate program or may wish to pursue additional work in the area of criminal justice. The coursework is completed online through a learning management system that provides flexibility to accommodate the schedules of working professionals. The curriculum is tailored to provide a balance of theoretical, practical and analytical instruction. The program also offers opportunities to gain experience confronting leaders and decision makers in contemporary criminal justice organizations.
