Dr. Morel joins us as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assessment for the School of Pharmacy.

At South College, we pride ourselves in having a phenomenal network of faculty and staff. We’re honored to add Diane W. Morel, Ph.D, to our community of support. Dr. Morel joins us as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assessment for the School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Morel brings many years of experience to South College. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Rutgers University. She then went on to earn her Master's and Ph.D in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University. She’s served as a professor at a number of other institutions, as well as Assistant Dean of Curriculum and Assessment. Most recently, Dr. Morel was a professor of pharmacology and toxicology at the University of the Sciences Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.

In addition to having plenty of experience, she also has a great deal of enthusiasm for helping students succeed. “I have a passion for learning and am even more passionate about using data to make decisions that drive change and quality improvement, especially in the world of pharmacy,” Dr. Morel said.

Dr. Morel has also had the honor of working with several prominent national organizations. She’s served as vice president and president of the American Heart Association, American Society for Nutrition and the American Chemical Society.

Our faculty and staff are thrilled to be bringing Dr. Morel onboard. Her experience and commitment to our students will be a valuable asset to the School of Pharmacy. She is excited to be joining us, and said  “I know the team at South College shares in my passions and I look forward to working together to continue providing quality, career-focused education for students.”

Dr. Morel resides in West Knoxville with her two daughters. When she’s not pursuing excellence in education, she enjoys hiking, biking, gardening and exploring nature.
