Dr. Newsome graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy in 2008. He completed a PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency at Xavier University in 2009. At the conclusion of his residency, Dr. Newsome accepted an Assistant Professor position at Hampton University School of Pharmacy. During his three years at Hampton, he served as a course coordinator for multiple courses; and an advisor for the Pre-Pharmacy Club, National Community Pharmacists Association-Hampton Chapter, and the Class of 2013. Dr. Newsome was also very active within the community.
While at Hampton, Dr. Newsome’s research interests dealt with behavioral risks for HIV/AIDS and medication therapy management services. His article “Examining the Usage of Medications on the Beers Criteria List in the Community Setting” was published in the September 2012 issue of Clinical Geriatrics.
Dr. Newsome joined the South College School of Pharmacy family in October of 2012. He intends to continue his research in medication therapy management services while working with the Cherokee Health System.
