Dr. Dunbar is a leader in pharmaceutical research and development with over 20 years in R&D at GlaxoSmithKline and heritage companies. His most recent role as Vice President of Worldwide Bioanalysis and Systems Management at GSK and his broad experience in drug development and contributions to FDA and international approvals of several drugs in the top 200 commonly prescribed medications prepare him well to lead the department of Pharmaceutical Science. His contributions spanned the areas of drug analysis/bioanalysis, analytical development, pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutical technologies, product development and FDA evaluation/approval process. Prior to his pharma experience, Dr. Dunbar spent over ten years in research and instruction, at East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of medicine, where his primary research interest was in the area of biochemical mechanisms of oxidant toxicity in the lung and heart.
