Mission Statement and Goals of Department:

The mission of South College Library is to support the mission, educational goals, and strategic aims of South College by providing effective and efficient library services and materials that support the academic curriculum of the college.

Goal I: To promote development of research and critical thinking skills that will encourage lifelong learning and help library users find, evaluate, and use information effectively by offering general and course-specific library instruction.

Goal II: To provide materials in a variety of formats to support the curriculum and involve faculty and students in development of library collections.

Goal III: To provide a pleasant learning environment for on-campus users by providing adequate physical facilities, relevant and easily accessible collections, and competent and responsive staff.

Goal IV: To develop an adequate technological infrastructure and online services for remote and distance education library users.

Goal V: To employ a competent, skilled staff to develop and maintain the library’s collections and services by encouraging and providing continuing opportunities for professional development and training.
