Audiovisual equipment is available for faculty checkout through the library department. TV/VCRs, TV/DVD, LCD projectors, overhead projectors, and remotes for classroom projectors are available for reserve on a first come, first served basis at both campuses. Please contact the librarians to reserve equipment. Students who need audiovisual equipment for class presentations may make reservations through their course instructor.
Placing Items on Reserve
Each library maintains a reserve collection for faculty to place personal and library materials on reserve for their current students to use. Items are held at the library desk. Most reserve items are for in library use only but faculty may choose to allow students to take materials home for a set amount of time. Reserve materials are removed from the collection at the end of each quarter and returned to the faculty or the library collection.
To place items on reserve, please speak to a library staff member and fill out a reserve form.
Meeting Room and Computer Lab Reservations
Faculty may reserve library meeting rooms at either campus for program interviews, student testing, or class meetings by filling out a Meeting Room Reservation Request located on the Library Resource site. Faculty may also reserve the library’s computer labs for formal class instruction, online testing, online surveys, or library orientations by filling out a Computer Lab Reservation Request, also found on the Library Resource site. Requests for library orientations must be made a minimum of one week in advance in order to guarantee a session. Confirmed reservations may be viewed on the Computer Lab and Meeting Room calendars on the main page of the Library Resource site. If the instructor and class are unable for any reason to keep the reservation made, or will be late to come to the library, the instructor should contact the library staff at the library where the reservation is being held as soon as possible. If the instructor does not contact the library staff and does not arrive by thirty minutes after the time of the reservation, the reservation will be cancelled and the lab or room will be made available to others.
While the library does not make reservations for class visits, the faculty are encouraged to notify the library staff of upcoming visits. Class visits will also appear on the calendar in order to help faculty plan the best use of library time during class sessions.
Video tutorials are designed to introduce South College faculty to the library’s services, policies, and resources.

Library orientations are given each quarter to students enrolled in College Management, Introduction to Physical Therapist Assistant, Fundamentals of Healthcare, Introduction to Professional Nursing, Introduction to Business, Introduction to Criminal Justice, and Foundations of Education classes. These introductory orientations teach students how to make the best use of the resources available in the South College libraries. Class lecture is followed by a hands-on demonstration of both print and electronic resources. New Physician Assistant and Pharmacy cohorts receive an orientation in their classrooms during the first week of classes, and can participate in the hands-on section by using their laptops.
To schedule a library orientation in one of the library computer labs, complete the appropriate reservation form located on the Library Resource Site. You may also preview the library calendar for computer lab and meeting room reservations by logging in to the Library Resource Site.
