South College's main campus is conveniently located at 3904 Lonas Drive. The building, completed in March 2006, contains 56,000 square feet of modern lecture classrooms, specialty laboratories equipped with modern equipment, a student center, a bookstore, faculty/staff office space and work areas, and the Health Professions library which includes a computer laboratory, AV viewing room, study cubicles, and a conference room. Parking is provided for students, faculty, and staff.
Located at 200 Hayfield Road in west Knoxville is an additional learning site of South College. The college renovated this facility in June 2005. Ample parking is available for students and staff. Included in the over 26,000 square feet available at this location are comfortable classrooms and computer laboratories, a writing and learning lab, a student center, and the library which houses collections for business, legal, education, technology, and general studies, and a student center.
Each South College site is accessible to the handicapped.
The South College library provides comfortable study areas for students and faculty. The library collection includes general and reference books, pamphlets, periodicals, multi-media software, online services, and other non-print media that supports the college’s curricula. To keep the collection current, outdated books are removed and new books are added each year. The library's resources include all computer workstations with access to WESTLAW, a national legal research network, full-text periodical databases, medical databases, and the Internet.
Student break areas with access to a variety of vending machines and a microwave are available to students. While smoking is not allowed inside any South College building, covered areas outside of the buildings where smoking is permitted are provided. The college bookstore is located at the main campus. Students may purchase books, selected supplies, and clothing. Regular hours of operation are posted.
The classes at South College are conducted in the day, afternoon, and evening hours Monday through Saturday. Day classes normally begin at 8:00-8:30 a.m. and evening classes at 6:00 p.m. (unless otherwise specified by the college). Instructors are available during specified times to assist students. Lab schedules are posted each quarter. Students' schedules will vary according to their individual courses of study.
