Department Chair - Physical Therapist Assistant - Nashville Learning Site

South College invites applications for the position of Department Chair for Physical Therapist Assistant at the South College Nashville Learning Site.   • A minimum of an acceptable master’s degree;
  • A minimum of five years, full-time, post licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience;
  • Current license/certificate to practice as a PT or PTA in any United States jurisdiction;
  • Excellence in postsecondary teaching and administration;
  • Nine academic credits of coursework in educational foundations (Completion of APTA’s Educational Leadership Institute constitutes 9 academic credits);
  • Curriculum development experience;

Full-Time Faculty Position in Business Administration

The South College School of Business in Knoxville, Tennessee is seeking a highly motivated assistant or associate professor to join our experienced team as a full-time faculty member. The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in Management or Business Administration. Applicants possessing a terminal degree from an ACBSP accredited institution are preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach courses as assigned (on-ground and online) in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Meet each class as scheduled at the designated time and for the designated length of time.
  • Serve as academic advisor and carry out other academic duties as assigned in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Maintain a reliable schedule of office hours for student tutoring, remediation, course preparation, and course development as appropriate.
  • Participate in college committees, task forces, and other meetings as appropriate.
  • Participate in the assessment process through data collection and development of initiatives for improvement.
  • Develop new courses and course materials as appropriate for on-ground and online courses.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities on an on-going basis.
  • Stay current in the teaching discipline(s) and technology.

The successful candidate should have an earned Ph.D. or DBA in a Business or Management discipline with preference given to those having at least 18 graduate semester hours in another field such as Finance, Marketing, Economics, or Accounting.  Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.

Assistant Dean of Student Services

South College invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Student Services. The Assistant Dean of Student Services is responsible for coordinating and implementing academic support activities, student activities, and programs to enhance student personal and professional growth.  Under the direction of the Dean of Student Services, the Assistant Dean of Student Services provides on-site assistance to students, faculty, and staff for problem and conflict resolution at South College’s Parkside Learning Site. Additional responsibilities include assisting with disability services administration, orientation coordination, development of student organizations, and oversite of student publications and communication. Desired skills include effective interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational and technology skills, and the ability to adapt to changing assignments, multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Part-time Administrative Assistant – School of Nursing

Position Summary: The South College School of Nursing Administrative Assistant is a part-time staff member who works as part of the administrative team to provide clerical support necessary to attain the objectives and outcomes of the nursing programs offered by the School of Nursing. The Administrative Assistant has the responsibility of providing general office management and facilities support for the program offered at the Parkside Learning Site.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Assist visitors, staff, and students who enter the Nursing/PA office area;
  • Provide office management including answering incoming calls, faxing, responding to emails, handling incoming and outgoing mail, and requesting necessary office supplies; 
  • Coordinate maintenance requests and room reservations for the School of Nursing ; 
  • Process travel and reimbursement requests and ensure appropriate approvals requested; 
  • Prepare and maintain various rosters for students, faculty, and clinical agencies; 
  • Provide administrative support to the nursing administrators, faculty, and students; 
  • Complete/assist with meeting minutes as requested;
  • Maintain accurate and current student and faculty records as needed for clinical experiences and accreditation reporting;
  • Maintain accurate and current files for all nursing faculty as needed for program approvals;
  • Assist in nursing meetings and functions;
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Nursing.  

Required Qualifications: 
Education: High School Graduate

  • Experience: Two to three years in an office environment performing relating duties as described above.
  • Knowledge and Abilities: Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Skills and Abilities: Interpersonal skills such as organization, communication, strong work ethic, and have the ability to make sound decisions. 
  • Preferred Qualifications: Some college; Experience working with student record administration system and Moodle.
