Mission Statement and Goals of the Department
The mission of the South College Library is to support the mission, educational goals, and strategic aims of South College by providing effective and efficient library services and materials that support the academic curricula and research activities of the college.
Goal I: To promote development of research and critical thinking skills that encourage lifelong learning and help library users search, evaluate, and use information effectively by offering general and course-specific library instruction.
Goal II: To provide materials in a variety of formats to support the curriculum, research, and scholarly activities of faculty and students and to involve faculty and students in the development of current and relevant library collections.
Goal III: To provide a pleasant learning environment for on-campus users by providing appropriate physical facilities, relevant and easily accessible collections, and competent, responsive staff.
Goal IV: To continually evaluate, expand, and improve the library’s technological infrastructure and online services for offsite and distance education library users.
Goal V: To employ and retain a competent, skilled staff to develop and maintain the library's collections and services by encouraging and providing continuing opportunities for professional development and training, community service, and committee membership.
